Estimator - Construction

Compensation: $140k BOE

We are one of the largest national Construction Management companies in the state of Florida. We ensure that all teams of a construction project from design, ownership and individual project teams work cohesively toward the most cost effective completion possible.

Job Description:

Develop bid strategy and manage big team(s) and subcontractor relationships. Prepare competitive bid proposals and provide preconstruction services on Construction Management Projects and Cost Plus contract projects. Develop and maintain design, professional and client relationships to increase future sales.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of concept, budgetary and final estimate bid proposals

  • Consult with estimating staff, CFO, Sr. VPs on all billable components including bid crew rates, labor multipliers, general & admin costs and proposal content

  • Conduct pre-construction/CM meetings with design teams and stakeholders

  • Be able to communicate interdepartmentally as well as with clients when formulating estimates and resolving issues

  • Make sure all bid package documents are compliant and consistent across all aspects including instructions to bidders, scope narratives, plans, specifications, etc.

  • Develop takeoffs, evaluation and/or development of construction labor rates and evaluation of subcontract cost estimates and proposals

  • Review of process designs and engineering specifications for cost effectiveness and suggestions for alternatives where applicable (VE)

  • Provide technical assistance in negotiating owner and subcontractor agreements and change orders as required

  • Conceptual estimating and cost analysis

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in estimating

  • Some experience in municipal work, higher education, healthcare, public schools, assisted living, multifamily and country clubs as well as a variety of other markets

  • Ability to read engineering and architectural drawings and specifications

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to comprehend contracts

  • Outstanding oral, written and interpersonal skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, On-Screen Takeoff is required
